A Piece of Local History

Our Story: Eight Decades of Crab‑Cracking, Steak‑Searing Tradition

Since 1938, the hand‑hewn walls of Jimmy Joy’s Log Cabin Inn have welcomed highway travelers and hometown regulars alike with the promise of hearty plates and warmer company. What began as a roadside stop on old Route 40 was carefully rolled 1,500 feet to its present perch on Millstone Road in 1959, making way for the new I‑70 while preserving every timber of its rustic charm. For the past twenty one years, owners Jimmy and Crystal Joy have carried that legacy forward—pairing Chesapeake blue‑crab feasts and hand‑cut steaks with the kind of small‑town hospitality that turns first‑time guests into lifelong friends. Step inside, breathe in the aroma of Old Bay, JO Spice and oak smoke, and discover why generations have called this cabin Western Maryland’s tastiest landmark

Head Chef - Chris Shuman

A HUGE Thank you to all of our staff & customers (Past, Present and Future) for helping us keep our Roots strong! Small Businesses Rock!

The Team Behind the Tradition

Today the kitchen is helmed by Head Chef Chris Shuman, for the last 19 years, whose passion for scratch‑made sauces, slow‑smoked meats, and perfectly seasoned seafood keeps the menu as memorable as the history that surrounds it. From the servers who greet you by name to the crab steamer working overtime during feast season, every team member treats this inn like the community gathering place it’s always been. Their commitment—along with the loyalty of guests past, present, and future—keeps our 86‑year‑old roots strong and lets us keep doing what we love: serving bold Chesapeake flavors with a side of genuine Maryland hospitality.
